Been working in the telecommunications industry for over 30 years, but the truth is, it goes back before that. When I was five or six years old, I remember the speaker on my father’s stereo stopped working on us. He was ready to throw it out. I just opened it up and started playing around with the wires and got it working again. At 13 years old, I wanted a phone line in my room. I got myself a phone line with my parents none the wiser.
In the real world, my telecom business began when I was reselling phone system equipment in Manhattan, and building management started recommending me to their tenants for phone systems. I taught myself how to do the installs, and have since taught myself everything tech setup and low voltage cabling. One client wants to be able to lock the office door from his phone. Another needs full scale installation for a new office; phones, cables, cameras, the works. As a self-taught tech, I never “don’t do that”.
I’m grateful for all my clients, but I especially love the ones who got my name through somebody else, where they've had three technicians look at something and say that these other techs were not able to figure it out. That’s when I get to walk in, have fun looking around, figure out the issues and resolve them. We started off with smaller jobs. Over the years, Teleconsults has evolved; Our services have grown along with our clients.
There are many such examples, but my favorite is the office we set up x years ago with three employees, and we continue to service their now multiple floors with well over 240 employees. Other favorite jobs are the non-ordinary variety, like the time I had to walk the catwalk under the Verrazano bridge.
I’m called in all the time to fix other people’s work. And to figure out the problem that nobody else has managed to solve. Tech is tech, and some troubleshooting is par for the course. But when TelecomSource does install, it’s set up for minimal problems, and easy repairs. And when we do a repair, you can be confident that the problem is resolved. Not band-aided, not fixed-for-a-day – resolved.
you’re not getting the new intern coming over to make his best guess. You’re getting my 30 years of experience (and G-d given intuition for technology) on the case. Need and install or repair? Here’s my number: [number]
